The Pen and The Wind

Whilst sitting at my computer today,
An odd thing happened to me.
I was accosted by a person,
But that wasn’t the sight to see.

The person that attacked me,
Was a future version of myself.
And it’s indeed quite a sensation,
To be struck by oneself.

He strode through the door,
And punched me square in the face.
Muttered “Wanker,” under his breath,
And left in a poof of time and space.

I quickly recovered from the assault,
But it left a question in me.
What grievous error had I made,
To so infuriate the future me?

Oh No. 
That guy you fell in love with,
He isn’t what you though he was.
And you’re once again looking for love.

Don’t you dare try and find deeper love,
Just open up those horoscope pages.  
Because who wants to be held accountable,
When you can just Feng Shui your cares away.

Oh dear. 
It looks like you’ve made,
Some critical mistake.
One stemmed from your personality.

Don’t even think about trying to better yourself,
When you can just ask a priest or psychic.
Because who wants to be held accountable,
When you can just Feng Shui your cares away.

Oh lord.
You’ve gone and neglected a dear friend,
One who was always great to you.
And now you don’t know what to do.

Don’t bother trying to make amends,
When you can just leave them to the fates.
 Because who wants to be held accountable,
When you can just Feng Shui your cares away.  

Icarus has made a devastating mistake, 
Getting involved in affairs of love, 
Knowing it can ruin him, 
But there’s nothing else he can think of, 

He’s fallen for a fiery woman, 
One who lives so far away.
She’d rather not think about him,
Let alone see him another day.  

Its more painful than flying into the sun, 
The most ruining thing you can think of,
It’ll ruin you with a euphoric feeling Icarus,
Its called unrequited love.
